DEMISE OF THE NOBLE AND THE UNKNOWN

And the light slowly faded
In their eyes till
There was none….

Smothering fire crept
Through the thick walls of once
A beautiful castle,

Consuming every part
Like flesh,
Ounce by ounce weakening

To the wrath of the heat,
While dances and mirth
Are seen and heard no more,

But only wails and cries
And shadows
walking in

And out
 Beneath the sober moon,
Tasting the the grim,

Perhaps a mock from the gods
Or the bitter ensnare
Of the grave,

A demise
 Of the noble
And the unknown.

Woe to the gift
 that enters
Their city,

A doom never forgotten.
