Some like arm candy
For show
Some kiss in public
So that everyone will know
But me
I'm happiest one-on-one
In private, in a little cocoon
With a special someone
Some like to dress up
In store-bought finery
Actors seeking notice
Playing a part
But me
I'm happiest far from a crowd
Peaceful, not loud
Cheek-to-cheek, heart-to-heart
Some seek cities with bright lights
And pose upon the steps
Tipping Martinis
Puffing cigarettes
But me
I'd prefer walking alone with you upon the grass
Beneath the stars, the trees and the moon
As the crickets strum their midnight tune
Or has all of love already passed
