A sibling narrative of lies

what do the years
carve?

three pieces of lying
with
the proof of truth
somewhere lurking
underneath

(where?)

not in the darkness
not in the light
never in shared or separate company

I can't find it
never will

anywhere

three pieces of lying
with
the thin crust of trust
molding
underneath

(somewhere)

confusion mixes
re-masters all of our shared past

the truth is lost
yes its lost
in its own vortex

is it the distance of miles
that separates
is it the distance of time
is it the lapsing of memory

our history has been
a series of fairytales
now I know
so has mine

the stories I've told myself

all neat
and full of sweet
platitudes

little truth
less trust

just the lies
we share

we were siblings once
now
we are even less familiar
than enemies

keep your enemies close
but let your brother and sister
scatter
chaff in the wind
