The stench of hate reeks up and down these streets
And if that stink should reach your block you better pray you smell it coming
Because these streets are as cold as a deep freezer so it that, beef doesn't spoil
If it takes them 3 years to catch you slipping the boys will gladly wait to retaliate, and I'll elaborate
Let's say after you turn your life around, manage to graduate,
Denounce the BS you've been involved in, become a man you go over your grandmother's house because she cooked your favorite dish and demands you have a plate
But as your wife and you were leaving you felt a rumbling,
The bass from a car of someone you fought years ago trying to set trip, coming
You see two guys hanging out the windows, firearms in their possession.
Thumbing through the options of your mind as time grinds to a halt
Silence. And you find this familiar because you've been here before just on the assault
Street full of innocent bystanders and your past actions are at a fault
You break the quiet by yelling, "RUN!" and you ask yourself, "How do we justify the homicide?"
But with semi automatic weapons dumpin,
Neighbors as old as 63 and as young as 7 ducking,
People scattering, crying and babbling.
You take one to the abdomen
You get up, see your woman on the ground, knelt in her blood and hear your grandma say she's calling the ambulance
You tell your love to hold on and help is coming
She took 2 to the chest and is losing her breath and you watch he take her last one as you held your woman
The first thought you have is of revenge,
So it's not difficult to see how one can get enveloped and tangled within this rope,
Of self destruction
