long ago a boy looked up to the sky
as his father left him without a goodbye
he played in his head a slow, mellow tune
and his eyes reflected the glow of the moon
he thought of a girl, hair soft as silk
as he cried like a lamb who had no more milk
he was all alone in this big, bad world
except for the thought of this one little girl
age made its mark on both of their souls
with confused minds and hearts made of holes
dedicated thoughts and a secret yearning
a new man and woman, his love was burning
and all those years he never had clarity
for her soul was as cold as a bitter charity
yet to his happiness this did so much harm
longing from a distance, his good luck charm
