Your hearts a hummingbird, thoughts they move fast
Sadistic like devils, you suffer and they laugh
There's an invisible ghost who tears at your soul
You fright for sanity, they tug, and you pull
You pray to a God, you're not sure exist
With a blanket squeezed tight in a trembling fist
The greater the pain, the harder your grip
Can't they see that the fact you're still alive show's you're trying
And you dream of peace, either that or of dying
Your hope has dried up, but your checks are wet
With your feet on edge you kiss your cigarettes
Life is like an addiction you can't just leave
It hurts to live but you can't help but breath
Most fear dying and pray for time to cease
But knowing it's all impermanent brings you some relief
Me? I've tried to blossom but theirs thorns on my rose
So when they tend to me, I tend to hurt the ones I love the most
I'd prefer they leave me alone if they don't understand
If you pick this flower I'll just die in your hands
It'll be the death of thought, the end of emotion
A single drop of rain that'll become one with the ocean
But I don't trust the people, I only walk with God, that's my belief
and when there was only one set of foot prints that's where he carried me
