My autumn harvest......(ballade) By aldo kraas, www.PoetryPoem.com/poet11586 Unlock all Features - Upgrade to Poetry Prime
The scents of autumn dancing
Upon a cool weathered breeze
Multi-colored leaves float down
Laying as an earthly blanket
On the chilled pre-winter ground
The smell of fresh baked pumpkin pie
Wafting through the chilly air
Hooray for the autumn harvest
Children wearing brightly colored sweaters
As they play in piles of already raked leaves
Under the bright blue sky with cotton like clouds
Randomly racing across the afternoon sky
Ancient darkened oak trees swaying into the wind
Reminding me of and old dance ritual
We did as children while playing under those trees
Hooray for the autumn harvest
Scarlet red, lemon yellow and burnt orange are
The colors of the autumn harvest
Pumpkins and gourds in hand made baskets and
Cornstalks and hay bales on the front porch
Freshly picked apples dipped in warm caramel and
Coffee brewed fresh with pumpkin spiced cream
Eating warm cinnamon bread right out of the oven
Hooray for the autumn harvest
Campfire stories with marshmallows on sticks
Drinking hot cocoa with extra whipped cream
Watching the squirrels gathering their nuts for the winter
My absolute favorite time of the year
Hooray for the autumn harvest
