In this non-continental jungle
With pyramids and high trees
And no history
Is a coordinate deep in its center
That corresponds with its
Own constellation
This metaphysical disconnect
Around the perimeters of
Its finest structure
A zone of limbo
Gazing and wanting
In the heart of the pyramid
Is a monitor, black and white
Some long dead nobody
Pontificating and frothing
At its core, the earth
Splits open
And folds in half
And the sky
Soaks up the rivers
We'll kill for water
They'll hold hands
And rejoice
In groupthink doublespeak
The former
A distant cousin
Of bystander effect
I'll nurse cough syrup
And oversleep
Waking up with scratches
