The flitting of leaves By aldo kraas, www.PoetryPoem.com/poet11586 Unlock all Features - Upgrade to Poetry Prime
On earthen path, the forest's breach,
I longed to climb aloft and reach
The old, crisp leaves, seen many days,
And paint them with my parts of speech.
Somber was I, who had realized,
Up in my perched canopy rise,
The fleeting nature that life brings
The theme of the vanishing prize.
So many precious things exist...
How sorrow falls, when they are missed.
The emptiness of presence, lost
Rains for years, as they desist.
The fading of a released leaf,
Relinquishing of old beliefs,
The truancy of true love's touch
Binds hollow souls with yarns of grief.
In my transitory days awake,
A point that will not bend or break
I hold close, it's my world view now...
To live the 'now' for my own sake.
My hands submerged in clear, blue, streams,
While eyes embrace the sunlit beam,
I close my eyes, embrace the day,
And feel my newborn soul, redeemed.
