A wolf's lament By aldo kraas, www.PoetryPoem.com/poet11586 Unlock all Features - Upgrade to Poetry Prime
The pup lifted his paw and pointed to the sky.
"Mother, mother, what are those?"
She smiled gently, saying, "Those are stars in the night."
Now he howls for her soul, her spirit has departed.
His sadness will last for quite a while, the grief has only started.
Through the night, his howls tell stories and tales of his youth
Telling the sorrows, joy and pain, not telling anything but the truth
He whimpers as he remembers her sweet, kind, loving last words,
"I love you son, I always will, but let my spirit fly high with the birds."
Now, the wolf is grown with a family of his own,
But still remembers his mother
And with family, as his mother did,
He'll share his love with all others.
