When you were briefly mine

In the hands of time, you were briefly mine,

A time so quickly spent,

In glory days we loved our way,

Through a lifetime heaven sent.

No one knows the pain I go through,

Or that I write these lines,

But through the long and lonely nights,

I know God knows I cry.

I see your face where e'er I go,

I count your every smile,

And look back to a wondrous place,

When you were briefly mine.
