darling,
you can tame his body
but you'll never tame his mind
he's the one who's dragged home at midnight
all alone
unrested eyes burn at sunrise
as his sits at the corner of heartbreak and despair
and sips his burnt coffee
cigarette smoke fills the air
he longs to be found
he counts the days
hours
minutes
seconds...
but nothing.
you taught him how to use his words
you taught him how to care
but now he's sitting here, lonely
in this cold october air
just one chance,
he wouldn't waste anything you taught him
he knows your soul
how you used to lie awake at night
dying for a friend
but now that you've let him in
if he left, nothing would amend
the emptiness you'd feel inside your chest
please put your silent fears to rest
this love is bliss and you know it
give him a chance to show it
no last kiss, no one is calling.
as the year goes by,
you'll know it.
you'll wish you would've shown it.
