I don't care to be clever today,
To purse my lips to blow you away
Like a dandelion over these hapless fields,
Weeds growing over until your mind yields.
I don't care to be loved today,
I'll settle for mud cakes from my maker's clay
And, waxing nostalgic, make a life of my own
Picking from these age-old golem bones.
I don't care to be remembered today
When vultures finish piecemeal and eye their new prey.
When they circle around like dogschasing tales,
Chasingstory-book tales where the devil's in the details.
No, I don't care to be clever today,
I'm tired of running on through the grey
While riddles play on through the endlessness of time
And clock towers cry out with each condemning chime.
