Mind songs and mushrooms..
Sounds in my mind go whirling around
On this mild summer night
Like songs on the radio new to me
Water spraying on the side of the newhouse
Soft brushes from a drummer
Hisses predawn from sprinklers just set
And the metal valves click in time
And wakes me
And thishouse (I digress)
Like farm cottage of earthen hue
Hides in the city not in the country
And crouches on the ground, a portly graying mushroom
Low planes fruit, meshed to the ground
Hiding
Delicious morsel, in a bed of small pines
On a plate of green grass
As viewed from the street
Sits far from the street
Mid city but shielded
One hears the street only faintly here
Late night songs
Muffled thuds from motored amps
Circle slowly and softly on calm windless nights
Violent songs of sonic roar rage wild during thunderstorms
Power ballads of the prairie
Many this season
Like no season before
One after another
Parading loudly through the summer
They march giant step by giant step
Fourth of July parading
And crash and bang their cymbals in the night
