we aren't who we used to be; but what we pretend to be By aldo kraas, www.PoetryPoem.com/poet11586 Unlock all Features - Upgrade to Poetry Prime
once upon a time your confidante
now a confine to your convoluted intent and
once upon a time, our independence was what initiated intimacies;
now were insecure, insatiable...
once upon a time it was our cute little quirks
that now create endless confrontation and
once upon a time you wanted me;
now you're wanting to leave.
i've realized that you're not a "badass" - you're just an ass.
and you've realized that my "outgoing personality"?
simply means i won't commit.
i've over-indulged when it comes to you, and now?
i'm over and done with you; you make me sick.
see the soggy cigarette stains on the cemented streets?
see that once upon a time, they too were satisfying
...they too, were enough.
now were nothing but the charred remains, gone up in flames
remnants of what we used to be....once upon a time.
