Comfort By aldo kraas, www.PoetryPoem.com/poet11586 Unlock all Features - Upgrade to Poetry Prime
Sat next to the English room radiator,
the scent comes back.
Memory clasps desperate , aching,
Cigarettes and washing powder;
your flat.
Wrinkled books and a glimpse of understanding.
drizzled silent rain
can't get to me now,
protected.
Quiet , numb pain.
Destroy my lungs with cotton wool scraps.
Preserved.
Memory gaps.
Now I seek the comfort back;
Perfume my baccy tin.
Gain safety from childhood nostalgia,
which I now desperately lack.
