Oh superb Crinodendron
wearing red flowers
falling in scarletabundance
while autumn blows
strings across your tender
nakedness and how
daggered the birds in their
winging for shelter.
Oh tree of great stature not
undaunted 'tho bound
to stand your ground brave
but nearly undressed.
By early cock-calls of next
cold-scarred morning
you will lift shaky fingers
to feel first stir of sun
and relax in your being oh
great Crinodendron.
