Her daughter's scream would wake her from sinner's abyss
More heart piercing than an ex-lover's cyanide kiss
As frantic as the last post on the bugle, manic as fear
This insanity bred straight from the mind of Lear
A claustrophobic drama hastily written and poured
By the truest of saints, and the scorned demons of lore
The cries would dry out over decade's bedridden pain
Burn the sheets Blanche Monnier's tears will forever stain
