I'm living life in real time.
One minute, second, moment
Time after time.
There are no jump cuts
between the controversial pain,
Inappropriate for audiences of all ages.
There are no montages
To see me through my work,
But the cheesy music still plays in my head.
I have only my nightly commercial breaks
Advertising my disproportionate thoughts
To an invisible audience inside my head.
I keep hearing about this director
That owns my life rights.
Someday, they say I might even meet this 'Jesus.'
I keep hearing that I'm the author of my own fate.
They forgot to mention that I'm not exactly qualified
And no one would want to review this screenplay.
We're all playing one-man shows,
But they keep bumping into each other's run time.
We all hate each other for it.
It's rough work being the writer and cast
Of the uncut, real-time picture of a life
With too many critics reviewing it before it's over.
I can't tell if my ratings have gone down
When someone doesn't answer my text
But the signs make my stomach churn.
I'm not winning any Emmys for living.
I'm the obscure one that everyone forgot.
I'm my mother's daughter, the unnecessary sequel.
But just you watch,
Someday
I'll be a cult hit.
