CALCULATION OF LOVE

I would have been dumb
From babyhood
But the tender hand of love
Said “no”.
So, a nurse picked a forceps
And cut the string that
Tied down my tongue
I would have been blind
While at school I played
Plucking almonds
Yet, love said “no”
So, the stone narrowly
Missed my eye and fell
On my face
Thank you, Jesus,
For love calculated well.
