'' We Give You Our Thanks And Our Praise ''
To our armed forces year after year,
To each one of you we owe a debt,
On this day we will shed a tear,
Your sacrifice we will never forget.
The horrors of war cannot be disguised,
But we need to be made aware,
When innocent people are being chastised,
In their time of need you were there.
When tyranny reared its ugly head,
Against it you refused to be cowed,
You ventured where others feared to tread,
Your bravery makes us feel proud.
You gave your lives so that we could live,
You made our future secure,
A greater sacrifice no one can give,
We respect what you had to endure.
But children yourselves you took up the fight,
Against evil beyond comprehension,
Despite overwhelming odds you never took fright,
Before long you'd be in the ascension.
After many battles fought long and hard,
You clawed victory from the jaws of defeat,
To the present day many remain scarred,
You deserve to be titled, our elite.
Though tears will be shed we'll give you a smile,
Sheer selflessness your sacrifice portrays,
What you achieved made our lives worthwhile,
