Time draws near, reflect one will
Of those who served in graves they fill
Heroes they were and are this day
Salute them all for role they played
They left for war to fight a scourge
Of many things where life was purged
A cry for help and freedom sought
A country's need for this they fought
Some fell in battle, so far from home
So lived to tell, tales of their own
A last breath drawn from wounds bleeding
Blood spilled crimson, red for the needing
Those who returned, dodge near to death
A fate for cause, on life what's left
As war still plays a role this day
Upon conscience, as is war's way
No medal worn will mend the past
As yesterdays of theirs still cast
Brother in arms no longer here
To share a cup of them held dear
So make a point to raise a glass
Of your freedom, to them the mass
That gave their lives so you can live
As you now do, thanks yours least give
For in harm's way those gone and those
Left all they had from ground they rose
To heaven's sky, and upon earth
Serving mankind, cause of great worth
