A good name is better, Than having a great wealth; Or a scarlet letter, And causing you ill health. Respect is better than, Having silver and gold; To be a humbled man, And not being so bold. Both the rich and the poor, Have something that is shared; The Lord is at the core, Of the soul He prepared. The wise man sees evil, And will run to avoid; Usually the devil, Caused it to be deployed. But the simple pass on, Gullible as they are; Will suffer until dawn, With a permanent scar. Those with humility, Also will fear the Lord; Have the ability, Have the wealth to afford. Evil people have traps, Thorns awaiting ahead; Snares that have leather straps, That tighten on the head. Whoever is alert, Will stay away from them; Because they will avert, And God will not condemn. Train children to respect, In the way they should go; So they will not reject, All the things they should know. C Copyright © 2015 Richard Newton Sherrer Vote for this poem
