She looks at autumn skies, blue over blue
sings the fall bird;
looking east, she gathers her day,
the many miles that must come
before night lays her rest,
before sleep calls her name,
memory smiles
passing her heart
life youthful still
you bring days softening,
long after her wisdom
born;
life grew moments
of love
letting go quickly
before her heart
would say hold to love;
just as she let go
sleep found her
closing all other directions
except east; when miles begin again
