Wannabes

There are those who are too prideful
And think themselves elite
Those wannabes who seldom try
To hide their own conceit.

They look down their long noses
With arrogance unabashed
Toward those they would consider as
No more than common trash.

While spending money they don't have
On a dog and pony show
Their snobbish lifestyle often hides
The enormous debt they owe.

But to keep up with the neighbors is
One of their major goals
Which makes it seem as if they would
Indeed, sell their own souls.

Yes, wannabes are prideful
And are vastly self-deceived
Because they base their worthiness
On how they are perceived.
