to explain would open the soul
                            to true rawness
        and vulnerableness to wounds,
a question posed at the sight of
               a damaged soul,
   would it turn friendship away,

      though the depths of stress
no longer are weighed
              by a sunken ship,
       the surface appears
                         just beyond the fingertips,
with increasing moments
of hand waves above the surf,

decades of repetitive injuries
done in the name of love,
  wounds given by selfish-greed,
              and moments of conditional love,
                   have built a enormous
                               fieldstone wall
                                             around the soul,

strength increases as faith grows,
    with friendship and prayer,
         there will be a time
when fear will fade
   and the soul will open,
            each day takes a piece
   of the proverbial built wall
and removes it to the foot
                            of the mountain
where He places peace in its place,
     the request to those around
             please hold on
eventually the wall will be gone.
