You were dead from trespass and sin, Walking as the ways of this place; With being corrupted within, But still the Lord has shed His grace. So now He did make you alive, You are able to put your trust; Since you now spiritually thrive, Which is blocking human lust. Lust of the flesh and of the mind, As the heart drives the desires; Since arrogance is not so kind, It pursues till it acquires. Your skeletons in your closet, Holds all of your disobedience; Secret sins that you deposit, While banking on defiance. But God is rich in giving grace, Showing mercy and compassion; Always as willing to embrace, And in a forgiving fashion. Mercy because of His great love, If we are willing to confess; Forgiveness will flow from above, As He will continue to bless. We were dead for our failures, But now God has made us alive; Because of Christ our Savior, He could spiritually revive. Out of His generosity, From the bonds of sin we are free; And have been given liberty, In having the insight to see. So through your faith you have been saved, You had nothing to do with it; But you are no longer enslaved, Through salvation to inherit. Since God made us for what we are, As He created us in Christ; Not a blemish or any scar, And no longer to be enticed. C Copyright © 2015 Richard Newton Sherrer Vote for this poem
