Come to the Pool
Come to the Pool
There was a man in the book of John Chapter 5
Who was technically living but wasn't really alive
Like so many others he would lay around
Subject to the infirmity which held him down
The only opportunity to better himself someday
Was constantly and quickly taken away
By the pool of Bethesda where an angel would come
And stir the waters which would heal the fastest one
There was always another person to get it first
Some as sick as he, and some much worse
How tired and hopeless he must have been
Why could he not be the first one to get in
But he never gave up or tried to go elsewhere
He knew in his heart that his healing was there
One day while lying helpless, passed up once again
The Ultimate healer came up to him
Jesus, the Son of God Himself
Restored his physical and spiritual health
It wasn't just the right place at the right time
But it was the right place in the right state of mind
He knew where the healing was and he knew to stay
And he believed the his opportunity would come one day
Many people, even Christians suffer in pain
Confessing they are healed in Jesus name
But they never go to the alter to take their care
Try to look for them at church they are never there
Some use their sickness as an excuse every Sunday
Thinking healing will just show up at their house one day
Others have real serious conditions, dreadful and true
But how much do they really believe what God can do
“Will you be made whole” Jesus asked the man
If you will be healed grab your bed and stand
Jesus never just assumed the man wanted healing
And his actions had to be more than just feeling
The bible never says how the man got to the pool
But it would be safe to assume he has some work to do
He had to get there, one way or another
If true freedom he would discover
How many would find a way to church
If a paycheck was there awaiting their money purse
But for the healing and abundant life they seek
A new excuse made available every week
Do you believe? Then live like it's true
Gather your cares and come to the pool
