Bless those that persecute you, Bless them and do not curse them; Slow to anger to construe, Determined not to condemn. Be happy with who is glad, Comfort those who maybe shy; Be sad with those who are sad, Dry their tears if they do cry. Live in harmony with all, Friendly to humble people; Help them get up if they fall, As you tell them the Gospel. Never think of you as smart, Or if dumber than they are; Have compassion in your heart, Treating all at even par. Do not pay back with evil, To someone who did you wrong; That coerces with the devil, Making conflicts to prolong. Focus your thoughts on those things, That are considered as stately; The tranquil peace that it brings, Viewed by others innately. So as much as possible, Live in peace and harmony; For it is real probable, With a lot of sympathy. Do not ever take revenge, Causing you to use your wrath; Let anger from God avenge, Trip them up on their own path, God alone will have the right, To take revenge on sinners; For He can handle the fight, So they would not be winners C Copyright © 2015 Richard Newton Sherrer Vote for this poem
