Remind believers of these things, Warn them in the sight of the Lord; Because of what the future brings, Should never be left ignored. You should not quarrel over words, Fights do not do any good; Progress just gets set backwards, From the pathway that you should. Do your best showing to God, Yourself being tried and true; Not shamed to honor and laud, Teaching the Word as can do. Avoid pointless discussions, Which makes some to turn away; And causes altercations, That tend to make people stray. The things that you say can spread, Easily like a disease; Who starves is nourished and fed, On the lies that seem to please. Some have abandoned the truth, Puts down the faith of others; As they then become uncouth, No longer as your brothers. We have a firm foundation, With Christ as the cornerstone; Giving our salvation, So that the Father will condone. And having His Word engraved, The Lord knows those who belong; To sin no longer enslaved, If you give up doing wrong. So flee from the youthful lust, And prepare to do good things; In this world no longer trust, On the pleasures that it brings. C Copyright © 2015 Richard Newton Sherrer Vote for this poem
