I thank Jesus Christ our Lord, That He has put His trust in me; For He is beloved and adored, And has given insight to see. He has appointed me to write, These poems and able to proclaim; So some others can see the light, By strengthening them through His name. In the past I persecuted Him, As I acted arrogantly; Cursing Him had made me feel grim, Living life so impatiently. But I was treated with mercy, Even though of my unbelief; My mind had a controversy, That was congested with much grief. Our Lord was so kind to me, He brought me to faith through His grace; Giving me love that had to be, As His arms gave a warm embrace. Faithful is the saying to trust, Which is worthy of acceptance; Steering you away from your lust, And building up your resistance. For as the plan of God was unfurled, So all of us could be winners; Jesus Christ came into the world, For saving all of the sinners. I know since I am a sinner, And do not deserve such treatment; Fed to the lions for dinner, On that final Day of Judgment. But I was treated with mercy, So that I could be used by Christ; Because of having an urgency, That others stop being enticed. Worship and glory forever, Onto our eternal king; Our bond that will not sever, Honoring for all He did bring. C Copyright © 2015 Richard Newton Sherrer Vote for this poem
