That that you baby boy would become weary and worn
Momma did you see the trails he would one day face
Or imagine how far he would fall from grace
Momma could you see that childhood smile
Reframed into a frown in such a short while
Momma did you cry at the thought of leaving me
Was it bitter sweet to have your soul set free?
Momma when you prayed for me did you know
How much bread of affliction I would need to grow
I've been up and I've been down
I've been punched and kicked around
My world weighs a million pounds
My face stuck deep in the ground
Day after dark day
It gets hard to see my way
I've gone so far astray
I dare not lift my voice to pray

I have felt so all alone
I have struggled for so long
Everything has gone so wrong
The fight has left me week
I can't stand to my feet
Finally on my knees
I begged the Lord please
Momma did you know that the day would come
That your fallen baby would meet the risen Son
Momma know how much my life would change
And all of my priorities would be rearranged
Momma would you have almost place a bet
That you baby's poetry would be on the internet
Momma did you see the gift of poetry
As a way to express and release God's Word in me
