It happened on a wintry night, As the darkness seem to prolong; I was blest with some new insight, That was giving my heart a song. As a special time of the year, Putting the dark events to the side; Not allowing terror cause fear, As our faith makes us abide. Terror would rather hide its face, So no one is able to see; Showing that they are in disgrace, Concealed behind a false decree. So many play into their hands, Telling Christmas is not the way; Happy holidays their demands, As a winter festival day. Children are now getting confused, Boys are now having two fathers; Their minds are becoming abused; With girls are having two mothers. Canonical values fade away, As so many disregards Christ; Biblical customs gone astray, Worldly pleasures that have enticed. For I can say I have no doubt, Christians cannot just run and hide; Be a bold witness and speak out, Let others know what you abide. Tell the others of the reason, All about the miracle birth; Why we celebrate the season, And soon He will return to earth. Do not let the worldly events, Overshadow the hope and peace; As well as love Jesus accents, That possible aggressions cease. C Copyright © 2015 Richard Newton Sherrer Vote for this poem
