 Too Long in the Rain
The waves pull back
To reveal a heartbeat on the shore

A scared little gypsy
Too long in the rain

She won't look up
To find the eyes
Looking down at her

Too long she's been in the storm
(though she's loved it)
She is cold and bruised
From earthly tempests
That have swept her away to lonely

Gentle hands clasp her wrists
And carefully pull her to her feet

A shirt--
Warm from someone's back
Is wrapped around her

The lace of waves wash over two pair of feet

She shivers--
He speaks softly
She is able to walk with him

She leaves no foot prints-
A long time has passed
Since she left any footprints

She has long since been a shadow
