The Evening Tide

Maurice is an artist of seascapes.
He has depicted many places of beauty; in his day.
One such sight is the Evening Tide.
High on the hill is a lighthouse.
The waves are violently crashing the rocks.
It is  a wintry night on the water with few boats afloat.
The white waves sweeps the shoreline with rapid succession.
The ominous sky is with dark pendulous clouds.
Calmly Maurice takes his easel and paints to paint the masterpiece of a lifetime.
He encompasses the winter's fury and also the sky's lament.
For the sky is free of the birds that used to freely fly.
There are no birds nor is there an owl to sound.
Only the wintry weather and the ominous sky that is overhead.
Leaving the scene, Maurice brushes the tears from his eyes.
For learning the story of the lighthouse is the reason.
The lighthouse has been vacant for some years for the big ships don't sail that way any longer.
Its life is now over and there are no lights to be seen from the top.
