I linger here for the darkness,
Desperate for its twinkle of hope
As I wilt in the dying sunlight.
Within me rises a weep
That soon shall drown out
The busy-ness of the day.
As the nighttime trickles down,
I let the black sky wash over me.
I savor the feel of the evening breeze
As it kisses my scarred skin.
I wish to live the vampiric lifestyle.
I plunge headfirst into midnight,
And run away from the gleam of dawn.
While I saunter in the gloam of another
Day shimmering to its end, I can only hope
The stars taste as sweet as the twilight sky.
