The Heat

Grim faced he walked
down the road
Back bent down with
the heavy load

Hot sun burned in
the mid day sky
The heat parching
everything dry

The man pushed on
with deep resolve
Lest the block of ice on
his back dissolve

Before he reached the
delivery point
At the far end of road an
ice cream joint
