(So For  You) What Is Love?  /Definitions

What is it about love
those four letters
which don't always inspire trust

no not always

Did the sky change to a different hue
when I met you>

Or was it a certain look I thought
I saw once in your eyes
that was once reserved for me>

Did my stomach flip gymnastically
or was it merely indigestion>

Did I ever hear the wind sigh your name,
when no longer I can depend upon you
to be with me...or is that simply
my sigh>

It takes a Hurculean effort to keep
those four letters together>

Let's be honest, even though we know
honesty is as
rare as some cancers>

The facts:

Its easier to find excuses not to
care when one's heart/ego has been "crushed."

Love becomes filled with bad habits and
unspoken, neglected needs, emotional sloth,
planned escapes and bad scenes.

And let us not forget, the break-ups
over the internet, or the misunderstood
texts.

We use deliberate unkind words and impatience
in abundance these days...

making basically emotional retards of us all,
when really we could all do much better.

But we won't, and hence, we don't.

I don't know if this is a poem,
or a rant or an experiment.

Sometimes things just happen
and they are necessary
on that particular day.
