No one wants to hear the ugly word Cancer
Nor wants to go through radiation treatment
Three months, fifteen minutes a day
But for me today was graduation day
And what a class act Rainier Cancer Center
My last session I opened the door to leave
The staff and the patients were taking pictures
Coffee and treats and a picture with the Doctor
A touch above there were flowers for my wife
doughnuts and treats and fellow survivors of completion
I was handed a certificate of completion signed
Not by strangers but each member of the staff
It doesn't make me a Cancer survivior there is still a battle
Waiting to greet me was a fellow patient
A patient who had been stage four and had chemo and radiation
He took the time in his busy life to wellcome me with encouragement
But what it does do is show the care continues on
That I am not just a number and not alone
A little frightened that day not expecting to make friends
Doesn't mean I well miss not going tomorrow
And yes my promise well be kept I well visit
And support those who like me need some cheering
In this every changing world we are family
