The Monastery
Silence weighed heavy in
the dark monastery
Made even heavier by the
faded old tapestry
High up in the Himalayas
hidden from the sight
The lone monastery stood
it's doors closed tight
No word was spoken inside
it for many centuries
The monks glided silently
fingering the rosaries
The generations of monks had
stood the test of time
Of the northern invasions and
the extremes of clime
The tough little guys survived
in the total silence
Practicing Buddhism with
ultimate obedience
the dark monastery
Made even heavier by the
faded old tapestry
High up in the Himalayas
hidden from the sight
The lone monastery stood
it's doors closed tight
No word was spoken inside
it for many centuries
The monks glided silently
fingering the rosaries
The generations of monks had
stood the test of time
Of the northern invasions and
the extremes of clime
The tough little guys survived
in the total silence
Practicing Buddhism with
ultimate obedience
