Worse Than Shameful
For those who mock the elderly
I believe the reason why
Is because they can't accept the fact
That all men age and die?
If so, it's worse than shameful
That some could be so cold
Such that they would show vile contempt
Toward those who have grown old.
These days it's almost fashionable
And politically correct
To look upon the long in tooth
And show them no respect.
But the mockers are reminded
Of their own mortality
When they behold the elderly
Knowing they will likewise be.
That is, if they live long enough
To reach that golden age
When they become the targets
Of another person's rage.
