It is Christmas Day
so very hard to believe,
no snow on the ground
the turkey is so peeved.
It sits in the sink
resting in its comfort bag,
but the future diners around it
don't know it's missing a leg.
He weighs a good twenty pounds
if not more than that,
he doesn't want to get eaten
and dances around in its top hat.
He uses a brittle cane
as it has only one leg to stand,
trying to do his very best
on his face he does land.
"What do you expect? he asks
"I'm not really in the mood,
I would rather be a one legged turkey
than to be looked at as your food!"

Poor turkey. We didn't know he was missing a leg, until we got him unwrapped and out of his blanket. We decided to give him a break and fed HIM a meal instead. ;-)
