The Way I used to be.

Reliance upon personal experiences frequently result in the most effective form of quality poetry.

The Way I used to be was very angry and filled with hatred.
Whenever I did manage to admit to being a Christian--
no body did really believe me!
Looking backward through the chronicles of time--
I did not really believe Jesus Christ was still a good friend of mine.

After all did I not curse and blaspheme his holy name,
thinking it was the smart thing to do.
Everyone swears like a drunken sailor early in the morning.

Didn't I try alcohol and get drunk?  Thank God it never
took a hold of me. Latter on down my life's journey,
people asked me if I smoke or drank.
"Would you like to have my weight problem?" "No! they would answer me!
"I have enough problems of my own with sugar, why do I want yours?

latter on people who smoked and drank called me "The Bible lady."
Because I talked about the Bible all the time at the Everett, Washington's
bus stops.  I did come a long way baby.

Now I testify what Jesus Christ has done for me, by comp sing inspirational
Christian poetry!  It is a gift that Jesus Christ has freely bestowed upon me.
As well as other more talented and dedicated Christian poets than yours truly.

Different things make me angry today.  My bad temper is acknowledged by my friends,
but I control it pretty well.  It is not exactly true, I would still blow my stack
if it wasn't for Jesus!  My friends have seen me angry, but I have not thrown anything
at them.  Nor cursed them, nor broke anything, nor called them any names!  Praise the LORD!

MY sister Lynn would call this the sermon on the mount and she is right.  Some of my closet
friends do not want me to talk about Jesus Christ.  They have made up their minds.  I am not
the best example for them!  I muddle through some how and do my best.

I prefer to put it down in writing.  Only words can get in my way! I frequently search for
the right ones to say.  My mind fly's much faster than I can type in a New York minute it is true.
I have come a long way, but I still have a long way to go.

As i compose these words I am now sixty one years old until October 4,2016--then I will become 62.
I must be a lot older than most of you, but it is okay.  Our love of the wonderful world of poetry-
-is the tie that binds both you and me!
