HILLSBOROUGH DISASTER

HILLSBOROUGH DISASTER

The verdict came back and justice was done
27 years later the people had finally won,
96 people were unlawfully killed
For family and friends their dream was fulfilled.

Their lives were on hold for all of these years
With pain and grief and millions of tears
They fought a battle for the ones they had lost
They had to get justice no matter what the cost.

It took all of this time for the truth to come out
It was a hard battle but winning was not in doubt,
The fans were slated and people left to die
How could the culprits live with such a lie?

The police were at fault the paramedics too
This has finally been proven to be true,
Statements were changed it was all a cover up
But for justice for the victims there was no let-up.

As the verdict was read I couldn`t help but cry
And I know in Liverpool there wouldn`t be a dry eye,
The fans were cleared of any blame at all
The Liverpool name still stands proud and tall.

In honour they read the names of the 96 who died
I`m not ashamed to say I broke down and cried,
Lives could have been saved on that fateful day
But they were left to die as on the pitch they lay.

Accountability is what their families need now
As still in sorrow their heads they do bow,
The people involved must pay for what they did
They blamed others and the truth they hid.

These 96 fans will be remembered by all
Their names now engraved on the Memorial Wall
A reminder of the unlawful killings that went on that day
In our hearts these 96 Angels will always stay.

`YOU`LL NEVER WALK ALONE`
