Swallowed by the earth
Buried alive
Once a miner's lot
Swallowed by the earth
Powerless under the load of earth
Struggling under heights of loam
Swallowed by the earth
Not cursed
Just struggling for daily bread
How hard the earth!
'Tis the cry of miners:
“When will we cease
To be swallowed by the earth?”
