As I sit here contemplating
My appeal to Veteran's administration
Thank you for your Service
Where we would be without Mother's and Veterans
My wife's Mother is near 95
Needing total care as we once needed total care
Daughter has gone to comfort her
The hurts of aging
The hurts of our Veterans
Thank you for your service!
Sometimes a hollow gesture
If left alone
On this day set aside to honor you
If you know a Veteran
Go out of your way to honor him or her
They went out of their way to honor you
Don't allow them to sit alone
I know my loved ones are coming to honor me
Sure they laugh at me for saluting every flag
When they hold their heart for the first one
But that is the sign of being a Veteran
We served for all of you not just one
The Politicians are becoming Billionaires
Only family can make it not a hollow gesture
Thank you Brothers and Sisters for your service
For in Poetry Poem and Veterans
I consider you family
