'' Why Did I Ever Get Married ''

Taking those vows in front of a stranger,
Should be a warning, an omen of danger,
The warning is red you're about to be wed,
Send for Tonto and the Lone Ranger.

Making promises you know you won't keep,
Pledges you know are too steep,
Prepare for the strife from the love of your life,
Then sit in a corner and weep.

Those nights out you used to enjoy,
Now only irk and annoy,
You are fully aware you're no longer there,
That applies to both girl and boy.

It's not what it's cracked up to be,
For very soon you will see,
Compatibility soon turns to fragility,
Oh how you'd love to be free.

Your promises mean nothing in law,
Now that is a serious flaw,
What you own in divorce will be taken by force,
I'm afraid that's the luck of the draw.

For the children you will have to pay,
In their future you won't have a say,
As they start to grow you they won't want to know,
No wonder you feel such dismay.

For the pleasure of being harried,
To an early grave you'll be carried,
No longer distressed as you're laid to rest,
You'll ask,
