who will  save themselves (show me how they will do it)

who will save themselves

when we look to the outside
for our safer harbors
for our lifeboats
for the long towrope
is there some lasso that will reach up
for the predetermined star to wish on in the sky

our shining star in our sky

why does it so often feel
like so many of us are slowing down
barely held together
crumbling
dying

death is the slow process
it takes years in the making
yet some do it more quickly than others

some do it well
some do it badly

who carries the score cards
are there ever any on the sidelines
aren't we all judging
and judges

and have you gotten your grade in dramatics
recently

so who will save themselves

while they are busy beating the tambourine
beating up one another to beat the dream,
beat the drum to save a desperate
hopeless world

do we die because it is eventual
because it is in the plan
do we die
from a lack of hope and loneliness
because we're crammed into a cracker box world filled
with noise noise noise
and billions of impatient people

so many ways to go

and oh no
who
who will save them save themselves
and just how

show me how they will do it

how will you do it
and do you have
the blueprint to succeed
