Have You Ever Met An Angel

Have You Ever Met An Angel       June 9, 2016

Have you ever met an angel, I met one today
He was walking free and kindly said enjoy your day
He never seemed different, he wore no fancy clothes
I never knew where he came from, surely someone knows
His shoes were worn, his coat was old but he had an Irish sound
I think he was a dude from Ireland, he was from the Holy ground
We walked and spoke, he asked me things about things that happen here
He asked me about the prince and Lizzie, was Phillip the duke a queer
Was Lizzie open minded, did she have a pint of beer
He joked around to gain my trust then asked me lot's of why?
I knew then this kindly guy was more than just a guy
He asked my about collusion in the six in Ireland dear
He wanted to know about the killings that no one else would know
He seemed to promote freedoms choice, that was the way to go
He never got excited, he remembered the men of ten
He seemed a natural rebel, he was one of them
We walked and talked along the way, passing Belfast Town
We passed the H blocks site and the angel knelt down
He cried a tear so very dear with a smile and walked away
He lived and died here, being Irish he could not stay
He never said much, just kindly words then said he had to go
I never seen him after that, I went home to sleep at night
I was sleeping and the guy I met kindly said  "hello"
I met you today in Belfast, he said his name was Joe
Have you ever met an angel, I met one today
He was walking free and kindly said enjoy your day
