I have been quiet lately
It is the Summer writers convention
At the last moment I decided to enter
Though I did not win I had
Great though disappointing reviews
The novel 280 pages was allowed 28 pages
Impossible to give a good offering
I ran into Judges who were looking for grammer mistakes
Real people do not talk in perfict diction
A fictional Detective novel
"I loved the storyline but your detective
does not use perfect diction and language."
Part of the plot being the detective
was the first of two investigating the case
A lifetime traffic cop thrown into an investigation
far over his head having less than high school education
I made an offering of poetry
One poem--Staci inmemorial
"This is a touching moving poem
You should find a case of someone actually
living this tragedy and write about them."
My neice Staci's daughter is grown up today
In college art glass she surronded my poem
With her own painting and love
It hangs in my office
"No more beautiful woman
Then she as beautiful---!
A grammer error I left in my proposal
Because the poem was about her Mother
I stopped reading the critiques at this point
Judged by high school language teachers
looking only for grammer mistakes
"I wrote Mt Rainier rose from the Cascades
in a vermillion sky
later in the day in mist a yellow orb fell from the sky in the Olympics"
"The writer needs to know where the Olympics
are located Mt Rainier is located in a different Range
other than the Olympics and not on the coast"
Dah and it is a fictional novel
Even it that were the case it is a fictional novel
Although Mt Rainier was spelled many times
"In one case I found it misspelled."
To edit to twenty eight pages i did not use spellcheck
It was a typing misprint I know how to spell Mt Raindeer
